OK. For those interested I bit the bullet and installed Windows 8 on my gaming rig.

So far, so good. Despite hearing a lot of negativity regarding Win8 I decided to give it a go. I must say, it is actually very good. The new "Metro" start screen is very different, however a quick tap of the windows key gets back to your normal desktop. Once you play with it a while the Tile system for the start screen actually works a treat, especially once you start getting it set up with your own favourite apps in the layout you want. The Microsoft store gives you one click install for a lot of apps, much like android or apples iOS. The search function is simply the best I have ever seen. When on the start screen simply start typing and the search box opens automatically, you can then click on the list of things to search, ie, search your installed apps, your pictures/music, search the net, or maps, and best of all, the search works with the apps from the store. eg. Type in South Park in the search box, click on the Netflix app and the search function search Netflix for you, it really is a very nice system.

Compatibility wise, had only 2 issues. I had to reinstall Punkbuster, but that was no biggy. I also had to update my Asus sound card drivers to get the control panel up, other than that, I've had no issues at all and everything I had installed before works fine.

Anyone interested can have a look for Win 8 here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/buy

Its £25 for the upgrade, but its worth it, since you can upgrade a pirated copy of Win7 into a legal copy of Win8

Thanks for the insight. All kinds of mixed reviews out there, but I'll just need to give the bleedin thing a try someday soon. I've been feeling guilty about never getting on the RC release and trying it out while it was free (especially cus im a tech and should be up on that kind of thing).

Anyway, good to have another opinion on it. Tx Muffs
